Construction Crane Safety Paramount in Preparation for Hurricane Irma to Hit Miami
As Hurricane Irma approaches Miami, construction crane safety has become paramount.
All construction sites around the downtown area have been placed on lockdown. Equipment, materials, trash and other movable items are to be properly secured or removed.
There are around 20-25 construction cranes in the City of Miami, which are designed to withstand winds up to 145mph. However, officials stress that they may not be able to withstand a Category 5 Hurricane.
In addition, there are about 2 dozen unmanned cranes in the city that could pose a threat in Hurricane-force winds as the heavy counterbalance of the arm could cause the crane to collapse.
Make sure your team knows what crane safety measures to take when bad weather strikes!
